While the NPRM aims to establish a long-term framework for commercial drone flights beyond a pilot\u2019s line of sight, it has raised significant concern within the FPV and recreational drone community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udee9\ufe0f What\u2019s in the NPRM?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The proposed rule includes new operational categories (Part 108, Part 146), updated requirements for airworthiness, reporting, and record keeping, and outlines roles like Operations Supervisors and Flight Coordinators. While large enterprise operators may be able to meet these burdens, many <strong>recreational and small commercial flyers may face challenges<\/strong> under the current draft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, under the proposed rules, <strong>recreational BVLOS flight would require:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use of standard Remote ID aircraft (DIY aircraft may be excluded)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Detailed recordkeeping and reporting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Passing a TSA threat assessment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Equipment capable of continued operation after a lightning strike<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Compliance with new operational categories<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udce3 Why It Matters<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Organizations like the <strong>FPV Freedom Coalition (FPVFC)<\/strong> have voiced strong concerns about the NPRM\u2019s impact on recreational pilots and smaller businesses.
